Schools’ Street Exhibition

An exhibition of over 500 works by students from the two post-primary schools in Kanturk and from the primary schools of Kanturk, Kilbrin, Lismire, Banteer and Castlemagner will be displayed in businesses in Kanturk. From Sat. March 12th-26th. [SUPPORTED by Kanturk Credit Union]

Invited Artists Exhibition

An exhibitions of work by in O’Callaghan’s TOYOTA Showroom, Freemount Rd. (click here for Invited Artists info). Public opening March 16th at 8.00 PM. Open March 17-19th from 12.00-5.30 PM, and from 12.00-3.30 on Sun. 20th.

Open Art Exhibition
An open art exhibition in Kanturk Library (click here for guidelines for exhibitors). This will run from Wed. 16 March until Sat 26. during normal library times. Open 1.00-5.00 PM St. Patrick’s Day,

Open Photography Exhibition

An open photography exhibition in Kanturk Photo & Framing Shop, Strand St. Open at normal business hours March 17th-26th. Open 12.00-5.30 on March 17th and 20th.

Wed. March 16th
Opening of Festival and Invited Artists Exhibition, and presentation of overall Schools’ Art Award, sponsored in Kanturk Credit Union. In O’Callaghan TOYOTA showroom. Open to the public.
Guest Speaker: Senator David Norris.

Thursday March 17th

  • Kanturk Foroige Youth Club: Street Theatre at St. Patrick’s Day Parade – ‘The Spirit of the Wild Boar‘.
  • Duhallow Choral Society – a special music celebration of Mass for St. Patrick’s Weekend: Conductor Sharon Reidy and accompanist Ian Sexton. 10.00 AM
  • Reception for Photographers, families and friends, exhibiting at the Photography Exhibition – Kanturk Photo & Framing Shop, 4.30 PM
  • Launch of ‘Border Country’ – a book of photography by Kanturk photographer, James Clancy – Kanturk Photo & Framing Shop, 4.30 PM.
  • Molly Bloom, by Eileen O’Dea. Edel Quinn Hall. 8.00-9.30 PM. Tickets €15 at Vinny’s Newsagents.

Friday March 18th

  • Reception for Open Exhibition Artists and Friends, 7.00-8.00 PM. Kanturk Library. Guest Speaker, Amanda Wright (Invited Artist 2011).
  • Snatch Comedy (Improvisation Comedy), 10.00-11.00 PM. Bob’s Upstairs Bar. Tickets €10 at door.

Saturday March 19th

  • Poetry Reading by Anthony Keating and Kanturk Students, and presentation of Schools’ Poetry Award. 3.00 PM. Trades Union Hall. Free entry.
  • Irish Chamber Orchestra, leader Katherine Hunka, with Duhallow Choral Society, Conductor Sharon Reidy. Edel Quinn Hall, 8.15 PM. Tickets €25 from Vinny’s Newsagents, Kanturk. [SUPPORTED by North Cork Co-Op Creameries]

Sunday March 20th

  • Children’s Theatre: Grimm’s Fairy Tales – Trades Union Hall. 3.00 PM. €5 each for children at door.
