Education Programme 2009
The Education Programme is a key element of Kanturk Arts Festival. The 2009 programme will include the following activities with schools and youth groups prior to and during the festival:
- A writer-in-residence will work with children and schools to write poetry – some of this will be presented alongside Bernard O'Donoghue at the poetry reading during the festival
- Renowned traditional musician, Jackie Daly, will give master classes to young musicians, and these will make a guest appearance with him at the Jackie Daly Tribute Concert during the festival
- Art teachers in the schools will work with students to produce paintings which will be exhibited in venues in town before and during the festival (‘Children’s Art Circuit’). Prize-winning work will be exhibited at the main Art Exhibition
- Tutors will work with young people to produce a street theatre performance for the St. Patrick’s Day parade.
