O’Brien St Park’s Stare Gazing Hare.

  One of the highlights of the 2016 Arts Festival was the chainsaw carving demonstration by Will Fogarty of Fear na Coilte Chainsaw Sculptures. After many coats of oil the Star Gazing hare was finally ready to be installed in it’s new home in O’Brien St Park. Many thanks to Kanturk Tidy Towns and Kanturk Mens Shed  who over the last few weeks dug and laid  the foundations and anchored the hare in

Duhallow 1916 Commemoration Concert

Duhallow choral Society will present in collaboration with Ceoltoiri sliabh Luachra. Rockchapel Mallow and district Toast masters,The Pards a talented organisation of enactors dedicated to the memory of Irish Soldiers, special local guest musicians. This concert is dedicated to remember and celebrate our shared history and commemorate the historic events and people of 1916. Meet our judge for the Poetry Slam Marie O’Halloran. Marie lives in Co. Cork. She writes novels, poetry, short stories and plays. Two of her poems were commended in 2013 Gregory O’Donoghue International Poetry Competition. Runner-up was achieved by another poem of Marie’s in 2013 ’Caring for Carer’s Ireland’ poetry competition, in conjunction with the Ennis Book Club Festival. Poetry Slam 2016

The annual poetry slam kindly sponsored by Kanturk Bookshop will be held once again in Kanturk Courthouse @ 7:30pm on 20th March. Recite or read a favourite piece of poetry ( your own or someone else’s) and advocate it before our Judge, This year two €50 prizes will be awarded. One for a self penned poem and the other for a favourite piece of someone else’s poetry. A special prize will be given
