One of the main aims of Kanturk Arts Festival, now in its 10th year, is to encourage local writing talent in the North Cork and Duhallow areas. One of its most successful events since being introduced four years ago, is the Night of Drama set in the atmospheric setting of the historic courthouse on on Saturday, March 17th.
A rehearsed reading is where actors have scrips to hand BUT they do act, gesture and move around as opposed to simply reading passively from the script.
We invite writers to submit 10-minute scripts for a staged reading.
Please note the following conditions.Play must be no longer than 10-minutes.
It can be any genre,Drama, Comedy, monologue etc.
Maximum of four actors.
Minimum props due to space constraints and rapid turnover of plays.
As scripts will be viewed anonymously by our selection panel, please ensure your name and contact details do NOT appear on the script itself but on a separate sheet. On this sheet, you should write your name, title of your script and contact number.
Plays must be well rehearsed prior to the performance.
There is no entry fee.
