One of the most popular events of Kanturk Arts Festival since it was introduced four years ago is the Night of Drama which takes place in the atmospheric setting of the historic courthouse. One of the main aims of the festival is to encourage local talent.
So this year the festival is inviting submissions from playwrights in Duhallow and North Cork for a ten minute play which will be performed as a staged reading on St. Patrick’s Night, March 17th, 2018. Because of space limitations, the play must have no more than four actors, with minimum props. Writers are welcome to perform themselves or supply their own actors but the play must not exceed ten minutes. Plays will be selected by an independent panel. A staged reading is where the actors have access to scrips but act out characters and scenarios.The standard of the plays has risen every year and the Festival Committee is grateful to the local actors who have given their time and efforts so generously to put on such an entertaining and enjoyable night for drama lovers around Duhallow.
Closing date for submissions is January 31st 2018.
