Kanturk Arts Festival is delighted to announce the winners of its inaugural Short Story Competition.
Entries were received from far and wide for this competition which had a total prize fund of €500.00.
The respected author Mary Bradford (who will be appearing at the festival to promote her debut novel “My Husband’s Sin”) spent considerable time weighing up the merits of each individual entry and in the end she has decided to award the top prize of €300 to Evelyn Cullen for her charming coming of age story “Daisy’s Big Question”.
Second prize of €125 goes to Marie Gethins for the humorous “Percival’s Predicament”.
In third place, and receiving a prize of €75, is Dónal O’Sullivan for his thought-provoking story “The Lodge”.
Kanturk Arts Festival would sincerely like to thank all of those talented people who took the time and effort to submit their stories. It is intended to make the Short Story Competition an annual Arts Festival event.
