Schools’ Street Exhibition

An exhibition of almost 500 works by students from school in Kanturk, Lismire, Kilbrin, Castlemagner and Banteer. These are displayed in businesses in Kanturk. Category Winners displayed in Percival St.. (Supported by Kanturk Credit Union)

Invited Artists Exhibition

An exhibition of work by Invited Artists Angela Regan and Alina Coverca in O’Callaghan TOYOTA showroom, Freemount Rd. Public opening March 15th at 8.00 PM. (Supported by O’Callaghan’s TOYOTA). Open 10.00AM-5.00PM, Fri. 16th; 11.00AM-6.00PM Sat. 17th and Sun. 18th. 11.00AM-3.00PM Mon. 19th.

Open Art Exhibition
An open Art Exhibition in Kanturk Library (Supported by Cork County Council). Normal library hours from March 15th – 23rd and 1.00-5.00 PM on March 17th.

Open Photography Exhibition

An open Photography Exhibition in Kanturk Framing Shop, Strand St. (Supported by Kanturk Framing Shop) Open 10.00-5.00PM 16th; 12.30-5.00PM 17th, 1.00-4.30PM 18th and 19th).

Storyspace
Inspired by the photographs of Danny O’Sullivan, an installation by Rosemary Canavan that explores relationships across age, time and space. In Manley’s window, Strand St. (Supported by Twohig’s SuperValu)

Selected works from the Danny O’Sullivan Photographic Archive, along with contemporary responses from Kanturk students. In O’Callaghan’s TOYOTA showroom as above.

Thursday March 15th

  • Festival Opening by Carmel Winters and launch of Invited Artists and Storyspace Exhibitions in O’Callaghan TOYOTA Showroom, Freemount Rd. Open invitation, 8.00 PM. (Supported by O’Callaghan TOYOTA)

Friday March 16th

  • Children’s Theatre – The Tallest Smallest Circus in the World! – presented by Cork Circus. Trades Union Hall, Strand St., 6.00 PM. €5 (the Ringmaster will be on Strand St. from 5.00 PM).
  • Poetry Slam in Kanturk Courthouse, with Sitting Judge, Gabriel Fitzmaurice. €100 Kanturk Bookshop Prize (participation open – see details). Guest Readings by John Dillon and Schools’ Poetry Winner. 8.00 PM. €5 entrance. Cushions advised.

Saturday. March 17th

  • Duhallow Choral Society special music celebration of Mass for St. Patrick’s Weekend in the Church of the Immaculate Conception: Conductor Sharon Reidy and accompanist Ian Sexton. 10.00am.
  • Reception and formal Launch of Open Photographic Exhibition, Kanturk Framing Shop, Strand St., 1.00 PM. Guest Speaker – Mr. Dylon Boyer. Open to all.
  • Reception and formal Launch of Open Art Exhibition, Kanturk Library, 4.00 PM. Guest Speaker – Ms. Angela Regan. Open to all.
  • Gala Concert, The ConTempo String Quartet with Kanturk Harp Ensemble (Christine O’Riordan, Siobhán Buckley, Cáit Buckley). Edel Quinn Hall, 8.00 PM. Ticket only – €20. (Supported by North Cork Co-op Creameries)
Sunday March 18th

  • Courthouse Theatre: ‘First Love’, by Samuel Beckett. Directed by Judy Hegarty Lovett and performed by Conor Lovett, Gare St. Lazare Players. Kanturk Courthouse, 8.00 PM. Ticket only – €15. Cushions advised.
  • Open Festival Night, with ‘A Few Songs and that Kind of Stuff’ by Tim Browne and Guests. Upstairs in Bob’s Bar. 10.00 PM.

Monday 19th

  • Musical Memories, Cosey Cinema, 3.00 PM and 7.00 PM. Adults €10, Children €5.
